The 12-week programme was designed to support people with Parkinson’s Disease to exercise in their own home. It includes 12 hours of exercise, all videoed for you to follow along to. Each hour session is broken down into 5 different components allowing you to work on balance, posture, large, powerful movements, weight shift and mind/body exercises. The programme is simple in a way that does not require you to have specialised equipment, you can use props that you have at home. However, I would recommend a resistance band for any home programme and these are easy to purchase from the clinic.
Initially designed for purchase, we have decided to make this programme freely available to members of The Park. Use it when you travel away, or if you want to supplement what you already do. Movement is medicine when it comes to Parkinson’s Disease and we want to give you every opportunity to stay well and keep fit and healthy.
Please note the programme can be challenging and requires you to be able to move independently and will not be suitable for you if you require a walking aid for safety. I would recommend you find a place beside a sturdy chair for support if you require it. You are responsible to make sure you participate as safely as possible.
