Locals Helping Locals. Because No One Should Walk Alone.

The Parkinson’s Support Fund™ is a community-driven initiative created by The Parkinson’s Centre® to provide direct support to people living with Parkinson’s and their carers — especially those falling through the cracks of traditional funding systems like My Aged Care and the NDIS.

This fund is built on a simple belief: everyone deserves access to care, connection, and dignity, regardless of waitlists, red tape, or postcode.

Funding opens from August 2025 following our major fundraising event, Step Out for Parkinson’s®.

What the Fund Supports

Thanks to local donations and community fundraising, the Parkinson’s Support Fund™ helps with:

  • Speech therapy, exercise classes, and specialist care for those who can’t afford it
  • Mobility and safety equipment to stay independent at home
  • Respite support for carers who need a break
  • Parkinson’s-specific training for support workers and volunteers
  • Emergency assistance for health-related needs not covered elsewhere

Why This Fund Matters

Over 150,000 Australians live with Parkinson’s. Many wait months — even years — for the help they need. On the Sunshine Coast, we’re doing something about it.

With your support, we can bridge the gap — quickly, compassionately, and with the local touch that big systems often miss.

Transparency & Oversight

The Parkinson’s Support Fund™ is overseen by an independent Community Advisory Board made up of experienced professionals and community members. This ensures that all applications and funding decisions are made fairly, ethically, and in line with the fund’s purpose.

We are committed to annual independent audits, and all donations are tracked and reported transparently. Our community can give with confidence, knowing that every dollar goes directly to supporting people living with Parkinson’s and their carers.
